Oral history interview : Wallace T. MacCaffrey, Reed College, class of 1942 / interviewed by Scott Benowitz, 1996, on April 25, 2003.

Discussion of MacCaffrey's transfer from Eastern Oregon University to Reed and his subsequent junior and senior years as a history major under Reginald Arragon. The interview covers his family and childhood, his studies on Canadian foreign policy, war activities on campus, relations with Portland, campus buildings, student Carl Stevens, and his day-dodger experiences. He spent two years in the U.S. Army and earned a Ph.D. in history from Harvard University. He was a graduate assistant in history at Reed for the 1946-1947 academic year and went on to teach at UCLA, Haverford, Harvard, and Cambridge University in England. He wrote several books on English history.
